Alexander Prokhorov (* July 11, 1916 in Atherton; † January 8, 2002 in Moscow) was a soviet and Russian physicist. He was 85 years old. He was married to Galina Shelepina. His education included Faculty of Physics, State University of Saint Petersbourg, Lebedev Physical Institute and Saint Petersburg State University. His awards include Nobel Prize in Physics and Order "For Merit to the Fatherland", 2nd class. He was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery.
