Biography of Américo Castro

Américo Castro (* 4. May 1885 in Cantagalo; † 25. July 1972 in Lloret de Mar) was a spanischer Literaturhistoriker, -wissenschaftler, -kritiker, Hochschullehrer und Diplomat. He was 87 years old. His education included Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (Universidad de Granada), Universidad Central, Faculty of Arts of Paris and University of Granada. He worked at Universidad Central, University of Texas at Austin, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Princeton University and University of Barcelona. He received 4 awards, including Officer of the Legion of Honour, honorary doctor of the University of Toulouse. He was buried at Civil Cemetery, Madrid.
