Claude Shannon (* 30. April 1916 in Petoskey; † 24. February 2001 in Medford) was an american mathematician and information theorist. He was 84 years old. He was married to Betty Shannon and Norma Barzman. His education included University of Michigan, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Gaylord High School. He received 10 awards, including Stuart Ballantine Medal, John Fritz Medal. His cause of death was Alzheimer's disease. He was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
