Biography of Dell Hymes

Dell Hymes (* 7. June 1927 in Portland; † 13. November 2009 in Charlottesville) was an uS-amerikanischer Linguist und Anthropologe. He was 82 years old. His education included Reed College and Indiana University. He worked at Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley, University of Virginia and University of Pennsylvania. He was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship. His cause of death was Alzheimer's disease.
