Edsger W. Dijkstra (* 11. May 1930 in Rotterdam; † 6. August 2002 in Nuenen) was a dutch computer scientist. He was 72 years old. He was married to Maria C. Debets. His education included Leiden University, Gymnasium Erasmianum, University of Amsterdam, University of Texas at Austin and University of Cambridge. He received 7 awards, including Turing Award, ACM Fellow. His cause of death was colorectal cancer.
