His education included Princeton University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dwight-Englewood School and Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. His faith was Episcopal Church. He received 10 awards, including Presidential Medal of Freedom, Democracy Service Medal. He was buried at Dawes Cemetery.
