Biography of Georges Dumézil

Georges Dumézil (* 4. March 1898 in 12th arrondissement of Paris; † 11. October 1986 in 5th arrondissement of Paris) was a französischer Religionswissenschaftler. He was 88 years old. He was married to Madeleine Dumézil. He had at least 2 children (1 son and 1 daughter). His education included Lycée Louis-le-Grand and École Normale Supérieure. He worked at Collège de France, École pratique des hautes études, Uppsala University, University of Warsaw and Istanbul University. He received 6 awards, including Officer of the Legion of Honour, Croix de guerre 1914–1918. His cause of death was cerebrovascular disease. He was buried at Nuits-Saint-Georges.
