Giya Kancheli (* 10. August 1935 in Tbilisi; † 2. October 2019 in Tbilisi) was a soviet and Georgian composer. He was 84 years old. His education included Tbilisi State University and Tbilisi State Conservatoire. He received 6 awards, including USSR State Prize, People's Artist of the USSR. He was buried at Didube Pantheon.
