He studied at Santa Monica High School. His awards include Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, star on Hollywood Walk of Fame and Donostia Award. His cause of death was stroke. He was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery.
