Biography of Herbert Giersch

Herbert Giersch (* 11. May 1921 in Dzierżoniów, Lower Silesia; † 22. July 2010 in Saarbrücken) was a deutscher Volkswirt. He was 89 years old. His education included Kiel University, University of Wrocław and University of Münster. He worked at Kiel University, Saarland University, Kiel Institute for the World Economy and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. He received 6 awards, including Great Cross with Star and Sash of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, Pour le Mérite for Sciences and Arts order.
