Biography of Ioannis Zizioulas

Ioannis Zizioulas (* 10. January 1931 in Katafygio; † 2. February 2023 in Athens) was an eastern Orthodox metropolitan of Pergamon. He was 92 years old. His education included National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Harvard University. His faith was Eastern Orthodoxy. He received 5 awards, including Order of Merit (Ukraine), 3rd class, honorary doctor of the University of Munich. His cause of death was COVID-19. He was buried at First Cemetery of Athens.
