James Weldon Johnson (* 17. June 1871 in Jacksonville; † 26. June 1938 in Wiscasset) was an uS-amerikanischer Schriftsteller, Diplomat, Kritiker, Zeitungsgründer und -herausgeber. He was 67 years old. He was married to Grace Nail Johnson. His education included Columbia University, Fisk University, Clark Atlanta University and Stanton College Preparatory School. He worked at Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and Fisk University. His awards include Spingarn Medal, William E. Harmon Foundation award for distinguished achievement among Negroes and Florida Artists Hall of Fame. His cause of death was traffic collision. He was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery.
