Biography of Jean Vercoutter

Jean Vercoutter (* 20. January 1911 in Lambersart; † 16. July 2000 in Paris) was a französischer Ägyptologe. He was 89 years old. His education included School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, Académie Julian, University of Paris and Institution Notre-Dame de Sainte-Croix. He worked at Institut Français d'Archéologie Orientale, University of Lille, Louvre Museum and National Center for Scientific Research. His awards include Bordin Prize, Officer of the Legion of Honour and Commander of the French Order of Academic Palms. He was buried at Montmartre Cemetery.
