Jerzy Kawalerowicz (* 19. January 1922 in Hvizdets; † 27. December 2007 in Warsaw) was a polish film director and screenwriter. He was 85 years old. He was married to Lucyna Winnicka. He studied at Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He received 9 awards, including Knight of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Golden Medal for Merit to Culture. He was buried at Powązki Military Cemetery.
