Lennart Meri (* 29. March 1929 in Tallinn; † 14. March 2006 in Tallinn) was an estonian writer, filmmaker and politician; President of Estonia in 1992–2001. He was 76 years old. He was married to Regina Meri and Helle Meri. He had 3 children. His education included University of Tartu, Lycée Janson-de-Sailly and Tallinn Nõmme Upper Secondary School. He received 10 awards, including Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, Order of the White Eagle. His cause of death was brain cancer. He was buried at Metsakalmistu.
