Biography of Mieczysław Rakowski

Mieczysław Rakowski (* 1. December 1926 in Kowalewko-Folwark; † 8. November 2008 in Warsaw) was a former First Secretary of the Polish United Workers' Party. He was 81 years old. He was married to Wanda Wiłkomirska. He studied at Institute of Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party. He received 7 awards, including Medal of the 10th Anniversary of People's Poland, Commander with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta. His cause of death was cancer. He was buried at Powązki Military Cemetery.
