Mstislav Rostropovich (* March 27, 1927 in Baku; † April 27, 2007 in Moscow) was a soviet and Russian cellist and conductor. He was 80 years old. He was married to Galina Vishnevskaya. His education included Moscow Conservatory and Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. His faith was Christianity. He received 5 awards, including Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, Commander of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. His cause of death was colorectal cancer. He was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery.
