Peter Lax (* 1. May 1926 in Budapest; † 16. May 2025 in Manhattan) was an american mathematician of Hungarian origin. He was 99 years old. He was married to Anneli Cahn Lax. His education included Stuyvesant High School and New York University. He received 10 awards, including Paul R. Halmos - Lester R. Ford Awards, Chauvenet Prize. His cause of death was cardiac amyloidosis.
