Thodoros Angelopoulos (* 27. April 1935 in Athens; † 24. January 2012 in Piraeus) was a greek film director, screenwriter and film producer. He was 76 years old. He was married to Foivi Oikonomopoulou. His education included University of Paris, Institut des hautes études cinématographiques and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He received 9 awards, including Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Sutherland Trophy. His cause of death was struck by vehicle. He was buried at First Cemetery of Athens.
