Biography of Vitaly Popkov

Vitaly Popkov (* 1. May 1922 in Moscow; † 6. February 2010 in Moscow) was a soviet aviator, twice Hero of the Soviet Union. He was 87 years old. His education included Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots named after Hero of the Soviet Union A.K. Serov, Gagarin Air Force Academy and Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. He worked at Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy. He received 4 awards, including Hero of the Soviet Union, Gold Star medal. He was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery.
