Wilhelm Backhaus (* 26. March 1884 in Leipzig; † 5. July 1969 in Villach) was a deutscher Pianist. He was 85 years old. He studied at University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. He worked at University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. His awards include Knight Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and Great Silver Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria. He was buried at Melaten-Friedhof.
