Biography of Allen Mawer

Allen Mawer (* 8. May 1879 in Bow; † 22. July 1942 in Broxbourne) was a scholar of place names and university administrator. He was 63 years old. His education included Gonville and Caius College and University of London. He worked at University of Liverpool and Newcastle University. His awards include Knight Bachelor and Fellow of the British Academy.
