Deno J. Geanakoplos (* 11. August 1916 in Minneapolis; † 4. October 2007 in Hamden) was a greek-American historian, scholar of Byzantine cultural and religious history, Professor Emiterus at Yale University. He was 91 years old. He was married to Effie Geanakoplos. His education included University of Pisa, Harvard University, Juilliard School and University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts. He worked at Brandeis University, Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign and Yale University. His awards include Guggenheim Fellowship and Fellow of the Medieval Academy of America. He was buried at Grove Street Cemetery.
