Günter Blobel (* 21. May 1936 in Niegosławice; † 18. February 2018 in New York City) was a german American biologist (1999 Nobel Prize). He was 81 years old. His education included University of Tübingen, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, University of Freiburg, Kiel University and Goethe University Frankfurt. He received 10 awards, including Pour le Mérite for Sciences and Arts order, Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research. His cause of death was prostate cancer.
