Igor Shafarevich (* 3. June 1923 in Zhytomyr; † 19. February 2017 in Moscow) was a soviet and Russian mathematician. He was 93 years old. He was married to Lyubov Shafarevich. His education included MSU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics and Steklov Institute of Mathematics. His faith was Eastern Orthodox Church. He received 5 awards, including Lenin Prize, Dannie Heineman Prize. He was buried at Troyekurovskoye cemetery.
