Biography of Ion Iliescu

Ion Iliescu (* 3. March 1930 in Oltenița; † 5. August 2025 in Bucharest) was a president of Romania (1990–1996; 2000–2004). He was 95 years old. He was married to Nina Iliescu. His education included Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Politehnica University of Bucharest and Lomonosov Moscow State University. His faith was freethought. He received 10 awards, including Order of the White Eagle, Collar of the Order of the Star of Romania. His cause of death was lung cancer.
