Josef Albers (* 19. March 1888 in Bottrop; † 25. March 1976 in New Haven) was a deutscher Maler, Kunsttheoretiker und -pädagoge. He was 88 years old. His education included Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, Bauhaus and Willem de Kooning Academy. He worked at Black Mountain College and Yale University. His awards include Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and AIGA Medal. He was buried at Orange Center Cemetery.
