Biography of Joseph Barnes

Joseph Barnes (* 21. July 1817 in Philadelphia; † 5. April 1883 in Washington, D.C.) was a surgeon General of the United States Army,. He was 65 years old. He was married to Mary Thurston Fauntleroy Barnes. He had at least 1 child (1 son). His education included Harvard Medical School and Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His cause of death was nephritis. He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery.
