French historian, literary critic, and philosopher of social science
René Girard (* 25. December 1923 in Avignon; † 4. November 2015 in Stanford) was a french historian, literary critic, and philosopher of social science. He was 91 years old. His education included École des chartes and Indiana University Bloomington. His faith was Catholicism. He received 10 awards, including Knight of the Legion of Honour, Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres. His cause of death was disease.
