First Field marshal of the Indian Army
Sam Manekshaw (* 3. April 1914 in Amritsar; † 27. June 2008 in Wellington) was a first Field marshal of the Indian Army. He was 94 years old. His education included Sherwood College, Indian Military Academy, Command and Staff College and Royal College of Defence Studies. His faith was Zoroastrianism. He received 10 awards, including Military Cross, Padma Bhushan. His cause of death was pneumonia.
