Biography of Saparmyrat Nyýazow

Saparmurat Niyazov (* 19. February 1940 in Gypjak; † 21. December 2006 in Ashgabat) was a president of Turkmenistan from 1990 to 2006. He was 66 years old. He was married to Muza Niýazowa. He had 2 children. His education included Peter the Great Saint Petersburg State Polytechnical University and Higher Party School at the Central Committee of the CPSU. His faith was Sunni Islam. He received 7 awards, including Order of the Renaissance (Turkmenistan), Order of Friendship of Peoples. His cause of death was myocardial infarction. He was buried at Türkmenbaşy Mosque.
