Veljo Tormis (* 7. August 1930 in Kuusalu Rural Municipality; † 21. January 2017 in Tallinn) was an estonian composer. He was 86 years old. He was married to Lea Tormis. He studied at Moscow Conservatory. He received 9 awards, including USSR State Prize, Recipient of the Order of the National Coat of Arms, 1st Class.
