Vasily Aksyonov (* 20. August 1932 in Kazan; † 6. July 2009 in Moscow) was a soviet-American writer. He was 76 years old. He studied at First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg. His awards include Russian Booker Prize, Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres and Medal "In Commemoration of the 1000th Anniversary of Kazan". His cause of death was cardiovascular disease. He was buried at Vagankovo Cemetery.
