Biography of Wolfgang Fortner

Wolfgang Fortner (* 12. October 1907 in Leipzig; † 5. September 1987 in Heidelberg) was a deutscher Komponist. He was 79 years old. His education included University of Music and Theatre Leipzig and Leipzig University. He worked at Hochschule für Musik Detmold and Hochschule für Musik Freiburg. He received 6 awards, including Knight Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bach Prize of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
