Bernt Balchen (* 23. October 1899 in Tveit; † 17. October 1973 in Mount Kisco) was a norwegischer Polarforscher, Luftfahrtpionier und US-Colonel. He was 73 years old. He received 10 awards, including Distinguished Flying Cross, Legionnaire of Legion of Merit. His cause of death was bone cancer. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
