Biography of Edmund Hillary

Edmund Hillary (* 20. July 1919 in Auckland; † 11. January 2008 in Auckland) was a new Zealand mountaineer and philanthropist. He was 88 years old. He was married to Louise Mary Rose and June Hillary. His education included Auckland Grammar School and University of Auckland. He received 10 awards, including Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Order of the Garter. His cause of death was myocardial infarction. He was buried at Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana.
