James Clerk Maxwell (* 13. June 1831 in Edinburgh; † 5. November 1879 in Cambridge) was a schottischer Physiker. He was 48 years old. He was married to Katherine Clerk Maxwell. His education included University of Edinburgh, Peterhouse, Edinburgh Academy, Trinity College and University of Cambridge. He worked at King's College London, University of Aberdeen, University of Cambridge and Marischal College. His faith was Christian socialism. He received 8 awards, including Fellow of the Royal Society, Rumford Medal. His cause of death was stomach cancer. He was buried at Westminster Abbey.
