Valentin Varennikov (* 15. December 1923 in Krasnodar; † 6. May 2009 in Moscow) was a soviet general and Russian politician. He was 85 years old. He studied at Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. He received 10 awards, including Zhukov Medal, Medal "For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945". He was buried at Troyekurovskoye cemetery.
