J. R. R. Tolkien (* 3. January 1892 in Bloemfontein; † 2. September 1973 in Bournemouth) was a britischer Schriftsteller und Philologe. He was 81 years old. He was married to Edith Tolkien. He had at least 3 children (2 sons and 1 daughter). His education included University of Oxford, Exeter College, King Edward's School and St. Philip's School. He worked at University of Oxford, University of Leeds and Oxford English Dictionary. His faith was traditionalist Catholicism. He received 6 awards, including Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Prometheus Award - Hall of Fame. His cause of death was bronchopneumonia. He was buried at Oxford.
